Stanley Umude announces plans for 2022 basketball season

Arkansas guard Stanley Umude was one of the best sharpshooters on his team this past college basketball season. On Thursday night, he announced that he will be hiring an agent and declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft, per an announcement he posted on Twitter. Last season, he averaged 11.9 points per game for the Razorbacks, while shooting 37 percent from beyond-the-arc.

The post on his Twitter page reads: “Thank God for blessing me with the ability to play this sport. I want to thank my family and the people closest to me for their constant love, support, and guidance. I have formed lifelong relationships with all of my teammates and coaches, I can’t thank them enough for believing in me and helping me grow as a player and person.”

“Thank you to the University of South Dakota for a great four years and providing me the opportunity to earn my degree. This past year at the University of Arkansas was one of the best years of my life. Razorback nation is special, Thank you for welcoming me in and allowing me to pursue my dreams.”

“With that being said I will be hiring an agent and entering my name into the 2022 NBA Draft,” Umude said.

Umude transferred to Arkansas for one season, after playing his first four years of college basketball with the South Dakota Coyotes. He poured in 41 points in a game for them during the 2020-2021 season, making it the eight highest-scoring game in Coyotes history. Umude’s 41-point eruption against South Dakota State was tied for the fourth most points in a Division I game during the 2020-2021 season.

Arkansas will be absolutely stacked with talent next season college. The Hogs reeled in one of the most talented classes in school history. According to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings for their 2022 class, the Razorbacks reeled in the nation’s No. 3 overall ranked recruiting class in the nation.
