Treylon Burks‘ successful career at Arkansas was highlighted by his constant threat in the Razorbacks’ short and vertical pass games, allowing him to accumulate over 2,000 receiving yards in three seasons in Fayetteville.

“Just knowing exactly what [your opponent is] doing, studying my film, staying up to date on everything just making sure that I’m taking care of my business on my end and also just communicating with quarterbacks,” Burks said.

When Burks was going deep and boring defensive backs, offensive coordinator and primary play-caller Kendal Briles manufactured touches for his star wideout through screen plays and short routes that complemented the 6-foot-3 wide receiver’s speed and athleticism.

“They did a really good job of putting me in different positions,” Burks said.

While Burks saw success during his freshman and sophomore seasons with Arkansas, compiling 1,295 yards and seven touchdowns on 80 receptions. He followed that up with a breakout junior season in 2021 with 66 receptions for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns.

His efforts made him one of the most sought after wide receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft, and the Tennessee Titans traded up with the Philadelphia Eagles (who would go on to select Jordan Davis themselves) to select him with the No. 18 overall pick.

“I would really say words can’t explain it,” Burks said about hearing his name called. “Just grateful that the guys believed in me and I am going to do whatever they set for me to do and just keep chasing my dreams.”

Now, Burks will catch passes for Ryan Tannehill in Nashville, He’ll attempt to replace the production left behind by star wide receiver AJ Brown after sending him to Philadelphia in the draft trade that ultimately brought Burks to the Titans.

Brown caught 63 passes for 869 yards and five touchdowns last season, the first time in the three-year NFL career the newest Eagles wide receiver caught less than 1,000 yards in a season. Though, Brown missed four games due to injury this past season.

Burks, who some have considered a ‘bust-or-boom’ prospect, could be an instant-impact receiver that has size, strength and a competitiveness about him while still maintaining his composure in high-pressure situations. Burks has played his best football with the lights on bright and has the potential to play a major role in the Titans organization over his tenure with the team.
