Auburn Tigers Recruiting Reaction To Heartbreaking Alabama Loss | Remainig Key Flip Targets

Favour Edwin has a basketball background, but he knows his future is on the gridiron. And the 6-foot-8, 290-pound offensive tackle out of McDonough (Ga.) Eagles Landing Christian Academy will continue his football career at Auburn.

The Tigers entered the race with an offer in August. Edwin took his official visit to the Plains in September and Auburn has beaten Alabama, Clemson and Florida for his commitment.

“All those schools are great, so it wasn’t an easy decision,” Edwin told On3. “I have gone back and forth and it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Recruiting has been like a rollercoaster for me. It came down to Auburn and Florida and I feel like Auburn is the best place for me.”

The feeling Edwin had on the Plains was different.

“It is about the place for me. The place, the city, the culture – it was that feeling I had at Auburn. I felt free there and I felt comfortable. The atmosphere gave me comfort and I love it at Auburn.

“Auburn’s campus is structured for me as a person. I fell in love with it. The environment and the culture fit me personally. I can go there and focus on football and be myself. I chose Auburn because of the feeling I have there and I know Auburn is the best place for me.”

Edwin is the No. 39-ranked offensive tackle in the country.

Edwin is high on the Auburn coaches

The culture fit Edwin. His feeling was different on the Plains. The connection he has with Jake Thornton also factored into his decision.

“Coach Thornton is young, he is passionate and he is aggressive in a good way,” Edwin said. “He looks out for his guys. He coaches hard, he develops his players and he prepares his guys the right way. I really like who Coach Thornton is as a person and as a coach.”

The new Auburn commit said a lot of the same things about Hugh Freeze. Edwin believes he is going to get the Tigers back to the top.

“Coach Freeze is a great coach. You can see what he is doing in recruiting already. He almost beat Alabama and Georgia, so he is a great coach and he 100% has Auburn on the right path to being great again.

“It all starts with recruiting. You can see what Coach Freeze is doing with the wide receiver, linebacker and quarterback rooms. He knows how to recruit and get talent. It is coming to Auburn and he is building something special.

“In a few years, Auburn will be playing for SEC and national championships. Auburn is a great school with great resources and Coach Freeze has big things coming.”
