Tahaad Pettiford, one of the top point guards in the 2024 class, has committed to Auburn.

The 6-foot, 160-pound junior out of Jersey City (N.J.) Hudson Catholic chose the Tigers over offers from Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas, UConn, Seton Hall, and Ole Miss.

Pettiford is the second player to commit to Bruce Pearl in the 2024 class. He joins four-star big man Peyton Marshall (No. 60).

According to the On3 Consensus, Pettiford ranks as the No. 27 overall prospect in the country. The On3 Consensus is the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies (ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, On3).

Pettiford on his commitment to Auburn

“I chose Auburn because I feel like Coach Bruce Pearl is going to prepare me for the next level,” Pettiford said to On3. “I loved the environment and the energy on campus from everyone. It made me feel like it was a second home.”

What type of player is Auburn getting in Tahaad Pettiford, in his own words?

“I’m a scoring point guard that can get my teammates involved and make a big play when needed. I also bring a lot of energy on the court and love to win.”

Scouting Report

“Tahaad Pettiford is a quick-on-quick point guard,” On3’s Jamie Shaw writes. “He has a crafty, but explosive handle that gets him to his spots on the floor. He does not dance with the ball, it is one or two dribbles and go. The 6-foot-0 guard has a quick-twitch burst that gets him above the rim. His team will run back-door lobs for him in the half-court. He has a tendency, at times, to get one-dimensional, looking to score or attacking with his head down, but he has some electricity in his play-making. Pettiford is a lefty. He plays with the utmost confidence. The shot is more of a set shot, and while he could shoot better off the bounce, it has to be respected. His quick athleticism and burst give him upside to defend the point of attack. There is an aggressive edge to his game.”
