The Auburn Tigers got an early taste of college basketball action on Wednesday night against the Auburn -Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks. Following the game, Auburn fans got an update on the injury status of guard Aden Holloway. The good news for Auburn fans is that he should be good to go for the Baylor game on Tuesday, according to a statement by Bruce Pearl after their exhibition game on Wednesday evening. “Aden Holloway tweaked his ankle in the exhibition against Furman and actually only played only a couple of minutes [on Wednesday night]. He should be back for Baylor.”

The Tigers lost another player due to injury on Wednesday night. Auburn center Johni Broome suffered a “pinch in his rotator cuff,” according to Bruce Pearl, but he “should be ok.” Even without Holloway playing at all on Wednesday and Broome not playing much, Auburn still poured in 100-plus points in an exhibition game for just the second time under Pearl.

Auburn had four players score in double figures on Wednesday night (Denver Jones, Chaney Johnson, Jaylin Williams, and Chad Baker-Mazara). The Tigers defeated AUM, 102-66. Sure, it’s just an exhibition game, but fans have to be excited about their team lighting up the scoreboard.

Denver Jones led all Auburn scorers with 18 points. Baker-Mazara was the second-leading scorer with 15 points. The Tigers struggled from deep, only connecting on five of 24 three-pointers. Denver Jones was the only one who could find his shot from deep, connecting on four of his eight shots.

Dylan Cardwell only stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, but he was the only Tiger to record double digit rebounds, with 10 on Wednesday night.

Auburn started the game slow, only hitting two of their first eight two-pointers. But that eventually turned around and the Tigers eventually picked that up with 18 of 21 shooting from that range. Auburn ended the game shooting 49% from the field and they also spent plenty of time at the free throw line. The Tigers connected on 31 of their 43 free throws.

Auburn led by 20 points going into halftime. They also tightened the screws on the Warhawks in the second half, holding them to just 33% shooting, while forcing 23 turnovers.

Their season opener against Baylor (Tuesday, Nov. 7th) will be nationally televised on ESPN. Tip time for that one is 9:00 PM EST. Their next game after that one will be Friday, Nov. 10th, when they will take on SE Louisiana. Tip time for that one is set for 8:00 PM EST.
