Auburn pitcher Shelby Lowe capped a complete game as the Tigers beat Kentucky 4-1 to salvage the three game series.

After losing the first two, Lowe turned in a great performance on the mound to get one back for Auburn. Despite giving up a home run in top of the first, Lowe settled in.

She spoke with the SEC Network crew following the game.

“You know, we’re just working on getting ahead in our count and really working on just keeping the batters off balance,” Lowe said. “So it was good to be out there again.”

Lowe was out there for game one of the series, but rain delays affected her performance and she only turned in four innings, giving up three hits and no runs.

“I mean, still working corners and you know, try to keep them off balanced up and down and really just work with the umpire also,” Lowe said in response if she changed anything.

If Lowe deals with different umpires that give her questionable looks, she simply just shrugs it off. She had no issues Monday.

“I just say, take it with a grain of salt, you know,” Lowe said. “There’s nothing you can do about it. He’s behind the plate. He’s making the decision so there’s nothing you can do except just smile and move on.”

Lowe finished with a complete game, giving up five hits, one run and had four strikeouts. She threw 122 pitches, 86 of them being strikes.

Since it was senior weekend, it was the type of atmosphere Lowe wanted against a ranked (No. 24) SEC foe.

“It’s been amazing,” Lowe said. “Honestly, you know, I get to have my whole family here. They’re very supportive. And I also get to have you know, my students here which is very special to me, and getting the win makes it even better.”

Speaking on the broadcast on SEC Network, Auburn coach Mickey Dean complimented Lowe through four innings of work.

“She’s doing a nice job working both sides of the plate and changing eye level,” Dean said. “So as long as she can continue to do that, she’ll experience some success.”

Following the series against the Wildcats, Lower and the squad will travel to Oxford for a three-game set against Ole Miss (April 26-28) and then return home for three against rival Alabama (May 2-4).
