Enterprise (Ala.) High On300 safety Eric Winters is one of the highest targets on Auburn’s board in the 2025 class, as the Tigers look to lock down one of the state’s — and the country’s — best prospects.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder has been a frequent visitor to The Plains since Hugh Freeze took over, including a trip this past weekend. That marked his third time in town since January, and much of the buzz surrounding his recruitment points to the Tigers.

On Tuesday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong placed an expert pick in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for Auburn to end up winning out for his commitment.

“Winters is fresh off another spring visit to Auburn,” Wiltfong wrote in making his projection. “While the blue-chipper is also considering the likes of Georgia, Miami and Tennessee among others, it looks like the Tigers are in terrific position at this point in the process. With that, I’ve logged an expert prediction on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Auburn to land Winters.”

Tigers going up against a trio of other major contenders

Freeze and Co. are battling Georgia, Tennessee and Miami, and Winters currently has official visits set to Georgia (June 7-9) and Miami (June 21-23). A commitment, however, will come well before he takes those visits.

“My spring football starts April 22nd,” he told On3’s AuburnLive.com. “Before then. Somewhere around then.”

And while he said each of the teams are on even standing right now, his most recent visit to Auburn appears to have made a big impact.

“It was crazy like always,” Winters told Wiltfong. “I believe Coach Freeze has the program trending the right way. Auburn has proved they can win at the highest level. I have an opportunity to be one of the people to help get this program back where this belongs, which is pretty special to think about.”

The No. 8 prospect in the Yellowhammer State, Winters also ranks No. 97 nationally and as the country’s No. 9 safety, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
