Auburn Hosts Flip Targets | Potential to Flip Florida Commit Realistic?

It’s no surprise that Auburn makes its hay on the recruiting trail by winning its battles in and around the state of Alabama. Coaches preach the importance of recruiting locally and the Tigers follow suit.

That remains the case for Hugh Freeze’s 2024 class. Auburn has 16 pledges in the current cycle, nine of whom are Alabamians. Six of the other seven pledges hail from Arkansas, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee — all of which either border Alabama or carry the “Southern” moniker.

Auburn’s recruiting class is No. 16 nationally, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. As the Tigers try and move towards a top-10 pledge list, Freeze and Co. are once again trending for more local or semi-local prospects.

Safety Kaleb Harris

The next addition to Auburn’s 2024 class could very well be Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson three-star safety Kaleb Harris. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder was at Jordan-Hare Stadium this weekend to watch the Tigers take on Ole Miss and has since told Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee that he plans to announce his commitment “very soon.”

Harris is the No. 643 overall prospect and No. 68 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 31 player in Alabama.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Auburn has a 96.3% chance to land Harris’ pledge. Both Lee and Auburn Live recruiting insider Cole Pinkston have logged predictions in favor of the Tigers. Secondary coach Zac Etheridge has led Auburn’s recruitment of the in-state DB.

JUCO safety Laquan Robinson

JUCO Goodman (Miss.) Holmes Community College safety Laquan Robinson is currently the No. 5 overall JUCO prospect and top-ranked player at his position. Like Harris, he was on the Plains over the weekend and is also likely to announce his decision in the near future.

Ole Miss and Texas A&M are also in the mix for the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder, but all signs are currently pointing in favor of the Tigers. Etheridge is also at the helm of AU’s charge for the touted JUCO product who hails from Greenville, Ala.

“It’s a great environment, you know,” Robinson told Auburn Live in September. “Coach Etheridge, he is a great coach, I feel a great connection with him and I feel like we can go somewhere with this.”

OT Favour Edwin

The On3 RPM is also liking Auburn’s chances of landing the commitment of McDonough (Ga.) Eagle’s Landing Christian three-star offensive tackle Favour Edwin. The Tigers currently sit with a 95.4% chance for the 6-foot-8, 290-pounder.

Edwin was also on campus over the weekend, less than a month following his official visit on Sept. 29. Alabama, Clemson and Florida have also been in the mix for the Peach State product, but both Lee and Pinkston have logged RPM picks in favor of Auburn.

“The fans, the atmosphere,” Edwin told Auburn Live this month. “They love the team, that is all you need. 90,000 every week, what else do you need? That is all you need. They have a good culture, good support staff.”

Edwin is the No. 615 overall prospect and No. 38 OT in the 2024 cycle. As of Oct. 22, Auburn’s only commitment on the offensive line is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star IOL DeAndre Carter.
