The 2022 regular season is now just a couple of weeks away for Auburn, but the Tigers are still working without one of their top options on the offensive line. Auburn center Nick Brahms has missed time during camp due to an undisclosed injury, and his status moving forward remains unclear.

On Saturday, Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin provided an update on Brahms and where he stands in his recovery. There is no timetable on his return, and Auburn is trying to let Brahms get healthy before he returns to action on the practice field.

“No, still just kind of waiting that one out a little bit, seeing where he’s at,” Harsin said of Brahms. “At some point we’ll figure out what his situation is. But just kind of let him settle in a little bit, heal up, and then figure out what the final decision is going to be.”

Brahms has been a mainstay on Auburn’s offensive line for a few years now. He arrived on campus in 2017 before taking a redshirt season as a true freshman. In 2018, Brahms played in eight games and eventually took over the starting center job, starting five games in his first season of play. Then, Brahms started five of the nine games he played in during the 2019 season.

2020 marked the first full season as a starter for Brahms on Auburn’s offensive line. He played in 11 games, all of which were starts. Last season was a similar story, with Brahms starting all 12 games on the year.

Brahms’ impact on the Auburn community extends well beyond the football field, though, as he was nominated for the Wuerffel Trophy ahead of the 2022 season. The Wuerffel trophy is given annually to the player that has leadership achievement and community service on and off the field. It is the second consecutive season that Brahms has been nominated for the award.

Auburn’s season gets underway on Saturday, Sept. 3 at home against Mercer. The Tigers then host San Jose State on Sept. 10 before hosting Penn State in Week 3 on Sept. 17.
