Auburn wing Chad Baker-Mazara has left Saturday’s contest against Mississippi State with injury early in the first half. He was taken back to the locker room for further evaluation.

It’s unclear at this point exactly what the nature of the injury is. Baker-Mazara was so far off to a good start before his exit, recording two points, two rebounds and two blocks. Auburn currently led 20-7 with 10:43 remaining in the first half.

Thankfully, Baker-Mazara would make his way back to the bench a few minutes later and re-enter the game soon after. It appears that whatever the issue was he isn’t too seriously hurt and is ready to finish things out.

Baker-Mazara wasted no time getting back into the action upon his return to the game. He has since knocked down a couple more shots and added three assists to his stat line.

Chad Baker-Mazara has been a crucial part of Auburn’s rotation this season with three starts in 29 appearance, including starting Saturday. He is averaging 10.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 21.6 minutes of action.

Baker-Mazara is in his first season with the Tigers after transferring from Northwestern Florida State College. Prior to that he played for San Diego State, where he was named the Mountain West Conference Sixth Man of the Year in 2021-22.

Auburn used a balanced effort to build a strong lead in the first half as seven different players have scored at halftime. Johni Broome currently has nine points to lead the Tigers, who hold a 39-22 advantage.

Auburn will look to close things out for the win in the second half as Baker-Mazara will aim to add to his solid performance thus far.
