Auburn linebackers coach Christian Robinson was relieved of his duties on Thursday morning and was notified that he would not be retained by the Tigers’ new head coach, Hugh Freeze. The news was reported early Thursday morning by Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson and Keith Niebuhr. Robinson took over as the team’s linebacker coach in 2022, after Bryan Harsin’s first season. On his last day at Auburn, he decided to pen a classy farewell message on his Twitter page to Auburn fans and players.

Check it out.

The message from Robinson reads:

DEAR AUBURN FAMILY,

“From the first day at Toomer’s to Cadillac’s first win on The Plains we loved getting to be a part of this community. There are very few places as welcoming and iconic in the country as Auburn. Kaley and I will miss all the great people that make this University and town so special. To the players, I hope you carry the lessons we shared and cherish the days you are given to impact others. Auburn is built on work, hard work. I can’t wait to see the great things you do on and off the field! –Christian”

During his college football career, Robinson played for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2009-2012. Then, he was a graduate assistant coach there from 2013-2014. He also served on the staff at Ole Miss from 2015-2016 and at Mississippi State in 2017.

As a player at Georgia, Robinson racked up 159 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks while starting most of his career. He was a part of back-to-back SEC Eastern Division titles during the 2011 and 2012 campaigns.

Robinson also spent four years as the linebacker coach for the Florida Gators. The Florida defense once ranked seventh in the country in scoring defense during his time there.

Who will be Robinson’s replacement at Auburn?

Auburn Live reported on Wednesday that Liberty co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Josh Aldridge was “weighing an offer to join Auburn’s defensive staff as a linebackers coach.” On Thursday morning, sources noted that unless there’s a change of heart, Aldridge will accept the position with Auburn following Liberty’s bowl game against Toledo on December 20. The move could possibly come following signing day, which is on December 21st, per Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson.
