ORLANDO, Fla. — Auburn is on track to ink a top-10 class, and A’Mon Lane-Ganus expects nothing less.

Lane-Ganus, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 33-ranked CB was the first verbal pledge for the Tigers in the 2024 cycle. Auburn is currently sitting tight with the nation’s No. 7-ranked class, and the four-star cornerback from Alabaster (Ala.) Moody believes its the right mixture of talent and character.

“It’s been awesome,” Lane-Ganus said during media check-in at the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game. “It’s been my dream to be the first to commit. I don’t need to be the five-star. I’m glad for Auburn and getting here. Recruiting is definitely going up. We’re gonna have some Jack boys get to the league.”

The catalyst has been Hugh Freeze, Auburn’s head coach putting the finishing touches on his second recruiting class on The Plains and first full group since arriving this time a year ago.

“This staff, you can tell they emphasize that the standard is the standard, and they’re not resetting it for anyone,” Lane-Ganus detailed. “What I respect about him (Freeze), is you have to go compete, you have to recruit at a high level, and everyone on the staff puts in work every day, works hard to have the recruits, the commits, and the signees that they have right now.”

“They want it more and great leaders emphasize that,” Lane-Ganus added on Freeze. “When everybody levels up then everybody becomes great, and that’s all we needed.”

Among those leaders is DB coach Zac Etheridge, Lane-Ganus’ lead recruiter for the Tigers.

“Coach Etheridge calls me and texts every single day. We don’t even have to talk every day, he knows I’m locked in with him,” he said.

“We’re coming,” he added.

Lane-Ganus checks in as the No. 383 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies
