Former Auburn assistant coach Trovon Reed just recently decided to move on from the Tigers and join their former head coach at UCF, Gus Malzahn. On Sunday evening, he penned an emotional goodbye to the Auburn coaches, players, and fans.

“Dear Auburn!”

“First & Foremost I know you guys are proud of me! Thank you so much for the unconditional love you guys displayed for my family!! We’re forever grateful & that love has gotten us through some dark days! I want to thank everyone in the institution for giving me a fair opportunity to be unapologetically myself!! I’m forever indebted to this institution! This place helped to change the trajectory of my family life!”

“To the players! I live yall boyz with everything in me! All we ever did was speak life into one another! I know yall are proud of me! The goal is still the same championship mindset! To the ladies in the recruiting office, thank y’all. I love yall. We’re doing life together! You all made me a better person daily! To every staff member thank you for the genuine love. I’m a phone call away!”

“Coach Freeze, Harsin, Cadillac, thank you for the genuine opportunity to prove myself! I’ve learned so much in my time here from you guys! Coach Freeze I believe in your plan most importantly, the players believe in it also! I’m rooting for you boss man. This isn’t a goodbye letter. It’s more so I’ll see you later type letter.”

Gus Malzahn is bringing one of his former players from Auburn to UCF to join the Knights’ coaching staff.

On Friday, Malzahn took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal Trovon Reed, a former Tigers defensive back who recently served as the Director of football & recruiting relations for the program, is taking his talents to Orlando, as the Knights’ new cornerbacks coach.

As a player, Reed helped guide Auburn to two SEC Championships in 2010 and 2013. He was a freshman on the 2010 National Championship team. During his time in the National Football League, Reed was with the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, and San Francisco 49ers.

As a high school prospect, Reed was one of the more highly coveted recruits in the country. He played for Thibodaux High School (Thibodaux, Louisiana). The Louisiana native was rated as the No. 25 overall prospect in the nation and a five-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2010 cycle.
