Baylor offers On300 LB Ashton Woods
Marietta (Ga.) Walton three-star linebacker Ashton Woods received an offer from Baylor Friday. Woods’ high school announced the news on Twitter.
Woods is the No. 391 overall prospect and No. 40 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 49 player in Georgia.
On3 rates Woods higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is also the No. 268 overall prospect, No. 28 linebacker and No. 35 player in Georgia.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Woods holds 20 Power Five offers and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Auburn with a narrow lead over Wake Forest and North Carolina to land a commitment from Woods.
Woods recently spoke with On3’s Jeremy Johnson about where his recruitment stands and the possibility of upcoming visits.
“I’m starting to narrow it down here soon in probably the next couple of weeks, that’s probably the next step for me,” Woods told Johnson. “Then the decision process starts this summer, maybe a little bit earlier.”
“I have started thinking about official visits, but I don’t know yet because I may make a decision before then, I may not. It just depends on whenever I fall in love with a school.”
One of the schools that has stood out Woods is Baylor especially with the recent addition of Christian Robinson as their new inside linebackers coach.
“I really like Coach (Christian) Robinson, when he was at Auburn, he was the coach that offered me,” Woods told On3. “He moved to Baylor, I’ve got family down there in Dallas. That’s an hour away. I feel like the state of Texas is a really nice place.”
