Baylor’s Kendall Brown makes decision on NBA future

Baylor freshman forward Kendall Brown has decided to enter the 2022 NBA Draft, as he told The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The former four-star prospect in the On3 Consensus rankings starred for the Bears on their way to a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament during his one collegiate season.

Brown came to Baylor ranked as the No. 21 overall player in the 2021 class and the No. 4 small forward before further establishing himself as an NBA prospect with his style of play. He started 34 games last season, averaging 9.7 points and 4.9 rebounds.

His teammate and fellow freshman Jeremy Sochan is also considered a potential lottery pick in the NBA draft but has not yet made a decision about his future.

When asked about the decision, Kendall Brown spoke candidly about his NBA dream with Shams Charania during a segment.

“My decision will be to enter the NBA Draft,” said Brown. “It’s been a dream of mine ever since a kid. So I just think that taking the next step and playing at the highest level is the best for me and my situation.”

After making the decision official, the former Sunrise Christian star discussed how he feels after making it this far in his young career.

“It’s kind of surreal,” said Brown. “Ever since I knew what the NBA was as a kid, this is where I wanted to be. So it’s kind of surreal knowing that I’m going to be there soon. All glory to God, I just can’t wait to get started.

“I think my game transfers really well. I’m a player that’s not very – I don’t take a lot of shots – I can move without the ball very easily. There’s a lot of stars in the NBA so there’s not a lot of shots for everyone. So the more I can move without the ball and get open and take good shots, I think it will help me in the long run. But I’m working on everything. My jumpshot especially, I need to be able to make them and knock down corner 3’s and everywhere around the arc. I’m working on ball handling, passing, mid-range shots and just trying to take everything to a whole other level.”
