Things are heating up in a second round matchup between Baylor and Virginia Tech with a trip to the Sweet Sixteen on the line. After Carleigh Wenzel hit a 3-pointer for the Hokies to tie the game at 52 with 10 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Jada Walker came up with an even bigger answer.

With the seconds ticking off the clock, Walker galloped up the court and heaved up a shot just past the half court line. Somehow it sailed through the air and fell right through the net, giving the Bears the advantage back heading into the fourth. You can view the moment below.

It was the first 3-point attempt for Walker all game as she completely took over in the second half to lead the Bears to a 75-72 victory. She finished with a team-high 28 points, 26 of which came in the second half.

Walker didn’t stop after her half court buzzer beater. She could go on to make several big shots down the stretch of the game, which remained neck-and-neck until the end. After Georgia Amoore hit a 3-point to cut the Baylor lead down to 68-67 with 1:53 left, Walker responded with a jumper on the other end.

She went on to add a layup with 19 seconds remaining after being fouled, hitting the free throw to complete the and-one opportunity.

Jada Walker is in her first season at Baylor after transferring from Kentucky. She has started all 32 games this season thus far, averaging 7.5 points along with 3.2 assists per game. Sunday’s 28 points marked a career-best for Walker, and she’ll aim to keep the momentum going throughout the rest of the tournament.

Baylor advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the 16th time in school history and the first since 2021. The Bears will face the winner between No. 1 seed USC and No. 8 seed Kansas.
