Monroe (La.) Neville three-star defensive lineman Enyce Sledge decommitted Tuesday from Baylor.

“I want to say thank you to coach (Dave) Aranda and coach (Dennis Johnson) and the rest of the staff for getting to know me as a person on and off the field,” Sledge tweeted.

In his Notes app message, Sledge said he has felt stressed about committing early and felt the need to explore other schools so he knows he is making the right decision.

He also added he would consider re-committing to the Bears down the line.

Sledge is the No. 946 overall recruit in the nation, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the 83rd-best defensive lineman in the country.

Baylor was No. 42 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking before Sledge’s decommitment and did not drop following the news.

He is the Bears’ second decommitment in the last week. Post (Texas) four-star linebacker Isaiah Crawford backed away from his commitment last Tuesday.

Crawford was recruited by former Baylor assistant coach and Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire.

Where does Baylor’s recruiting class stand following Enyce Sledge’s decommitment?

The Bears now hasve18 commitments in their recruiting class, including Festus (Mo.) four-star EDGE Kaian Roberts-Day and South Jordan (Utah) Bingham four-star interior offensive lineman George Maile.

Those two are the only two four-star prospects in the class at the moment.

Mount Pleasant (Mount Pleasant, TX) three-star Tre Emory and Lubbock (Texas) Lubbock-Cooper three-star Kyler Jordan are the two remaining defensive lineman in the recruiting class.

There is still room left in the Baylor recruiting class for some more recruits. One player they have been working to flip in recent weeks is Arlington (Texas) Mansfield Summit defensive lineman and TCU commit Joseph Adedire.
