Class of 2024 athlete Ashton Hampton of Tallahassee (FL) Florida State Univ. School announced his commitment to Clemson Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 190 pounder chose the Tigers over Florida State, Florida, Louisville, and Arkansas.

Hampton on why he chose Clemson

“Clemson is a true family environment and the coaches truly care for their players. I’ve felt the love from Coach Swinney and Coach Reed ever since they offered me. They are also a great program who consistently wins and is always competing for a national championship and I want to be a part of a winning program.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for him

“I have a great relationship with the coaching staff. Coach Reed is an amazing DB coach and has kept it real with me from day 1. Coach Swinney as well has played a big factor in my recruitment being able to sit in his office and talk about my future at Clemson. They plan on using me at corner and safety as well if needed. They love that I’m a versatile DB that can play corner safety and nickel.”

Hampton ranks as the No. 702 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 29 athlete and the No. 98 player in the state of Florida.

The Sunshine State athlete joins coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers’ top 10 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by five-star wide receiver Bryant Wesco, five-star linebacker Sammy Brown, and others.

He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
