McDonough (Ga.) Eagle’s Landing Christian School four-star offensive lineman Zechariah Owens has committed to Clemson.

He is the latest in a summer charge on the recruiting trail for the Tigers. Clemson landed 13 commits in the month of June.

Owens is the No. 203 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus rankings. He joins four-stars Ian Reed and Harris Sewell as offensive line commits.

Owens took an official visit to Clemson at the start of the month. He’d been to Clemson multiple times throughout his recruitment. Dabo Swinney and staff have always made an impression on the four-star offensive lineman.

Owens has felt comfortable at Clemson for some time now. Even back in May, the campus felt like a place he could call home.

“I love how he’s such a good guy,” Owens said of Swinney in a previous interview. “I love being around him. The energy he brings to the community and all the players is something I’d love to see myself around… Clemson feels like home.”

Clemson’s offensive line coach Thomas Austin also played a key role in landing Owens. Austin is entering his first full season as the offensive line coach at Clemson. The former Tiger served as an interim tight ends coach during bowl preparation in the winter.

Owens has already seen some key factors that could make Austin the type of coach he wants to play for.

“Thomas Austin, the way he runs his program and his meetings, he makes sure at the end of the day that you know what you’re doing,” Owens said in May. “He’s not sending you out there with a blind eye. He’ll sit you down and work with you until you really know what you’re doing.”
