Clemson landed its biggest win of the 2024 recruiting cycle up this point Monday night landing a pledge from Jefferson (Ga.) five-star linebacker Sammy Brown. Brown’s commitment was the first for the Tigers since April 22.

Landing Brown elevated Clemson’s 2024 class to No. 11 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The Tigers’ group, which also ranks No. 2 in the ACC, rose three spots from No. 14.

After finishing with a top-15 class during the 2023 recruiting cycle, the Tigers are well on their way to landing another top-15 class and are in prime position to crack the top-10. Of the Tigers’ nine commits, five are ranked in the top 300 of the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, and two others are included in the top 400.

Brown is the first five-star commit for the Tigers this cycle. He ranks as the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 2 linebacker and No. 4 player in Georgia in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 6-foot-2.5, 225-pounder visited Clemson several times before his pledge. He was back on campus June 2 for an official visit and knew that it was time to commit.

“Since Junior Day on and off I kind of had a feeling about Clemson that it’s a good spot and a good fit for me,” Brown told On3’s Chad Simmons. “There’s a lot of great things for me as a player and person. I brought the chip with me just in case, I prayed about it all week and I woke up Saturday and throughout the day I felt like it all clicked and came together.”

Brown’s pledge could start domino affect

With his commitment out of the way, Brown told Simmons that his main focus is on on building Clemson’s class into one of the best ever.

“This 2024 class we’re going to have might be one of the best classes in history,” Brown told Simmons. “The domino effect has already begun. Because of me committing, there’s going to be others over the next couple of days and weeks. This class is going to be really good.”

Whoever else commits to the Tigers will be joining a class consisting of Brown, Woodstock (Ill.) Marian Central Catholic four-star tight end Christian Bentancur, Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy four-star defensive lineman Hevin Brown-Shuler, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day four-star cornerback Tavoy Feagin, Lagrange (Ga.) Troup County four-star safety Noah Dixon, Norcross (Ga.) Meadowcreek four-star defensive lineman Champ Thompson, Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb four-star running back David Eziomume.

The Tigers also hold pledges from Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit three-star linebacker Drew Woodaz and Cornelius (N.C.) William Amos Hough three-star kicker Nolan Hauser.
