Five-star linebacker Sammy Brown of Jefferson (GA) High announced his commitment to Clemson Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 230 pounder chose the Tigers over Georgia, Tennessee, and others.

Brown on why he chose Clemson

“There wasn’t really anything specific that made me commit to Clemson, no specific event,” Brown said. “I prayed about it in the week leading up to the visit and after Saturday I just felt like that door had been opened for me to commit. I think it was God’s will for me to go to Clemson. Everything just kind of clicked I guess.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for Sammy Brown

“I am definitely super close with Coach Swinney and Coach Goodwin,” Brown said. “They are both really great people who love the game of football. Coach Swinney has done a great job of building the best culture in college football. There’s a reason that almost no one enters the transfer portal. Coach Goodwin is a genius when it comes to defensive football. They want me to be an inside backer and tell me that I will have a chance to come in and compete for some playing time. With Barrett Carter and Jeremiah Trotter leaving, that gives me a great opportunity.”

The Peach State linebacker joins coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers’ top 15 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star defensive lineman Hevin Brown-Shuler, four-star cornerback Tavoy Feagin, and others.

Sammy Brown Scouting Summary

“A physical freak of nature whose athletic ability is off the charts. Stands in at 6-foot-2.5, 225 pounds with a 6-foot-6 wingspan. Jumped a 34-inch vertical and 10-foot-1 broad jump during the spring camp circuit prior to his junior season. Ran some mind-boggling track times during his sophomore track and field season with a 10.70 100m, a 21.81 200m and jumped a 22-foot-2 long jump as well. The athleticism translates to the field with his ability to chase down ball carriers from sideline to sideline popping off the screen as well as his long speed as a ball carrier. High upside prospect whose athletic ability alone makes him a borderline lock as a NFL draft pick.”

Brown ranks as the No. 16 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 2 linebacker and the No. 4 player in the state of Georgia.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $274K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
