Clemson offensive line coach Thomas Austin dipped back into Texas to land another elite recruit.

The Tigers picked up a commitment from four-star prospect Harris Sewell on Wednesday.

Sewell chose the Tigers over Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama and others.

The Odessa, Texas native is ranked as the No. 79 overall player in the country and the No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the nation, according to the On3 consensus rankings.

“I am excited to say I am committing to Clemson University,” Sewell posted on Twitter. “Coach Swinney, coach Austin and the Clemson staff — thank you! You have given me a chance of a lifetime. I commit to you and your team all I have and all I can become! Go Tigers! I am all in!”

Sewell took a visit to Clemson the first weekend of this month, which played a big role in the Tigers landing him.

In addition to Sewell, Clemson landed a commitment from fellow Texas native and interior offensive lineman Ian Reed earlier in June.

Reed, who is from Austin, is ranked as the No. 198 overall player in the country and the No. 12 interior offensive lineman.

With the addition of Sewell, Clemson has 15 commitments in the class of 2023. Of the 15, 12 have committed since June 1.

Sewell becomes the 14th four-star commit for Clemson in the class of 2023. The Tigers class was ranked No. 7 nationally prior to landing Sewell.

This is a big win for Austin, who is in his first season as Clemson’s offensive line coach.
