We might be in the middle of March Madness for the NCAA basketball tournaments, but the Clemson baseball team made some magic of their own on Saturday. The Tigers scored eight runs in the ninth inning for their improbable walk-off win against the Florida State Seminoles.

Here’s the play that drove in the game-winning run in the ninth from Jacob Hinderleider.

It was the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday between the two teams.

Jacob Hinderleider delivered an unforgettable performance

In that clip above, you can see the play where Blake Wright blasted the game-tying grand slam in the ninth inning to make it 8-8. Then Jacob Hinderleider finished it off when he drove in the game-winning run, to make it 9-8. He drilled the game-winner on the final out of the game, too.

Hinderleider finished 3-of-5 at the plate with four total RBIs, tying for the team lead. The Tigers were trailing 8-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Hinderleider blasted a three-run home run to make it 8-4. The clutch performance will without a doubt, cement his name in Tiger baseball lore forever. He delivered his best when his team needed it the most, against a big-time opponent.

Not only did the third-ranked Tigers take down the seventh ranked Seminoles in improbable fashion, but they clinched the weekend series 2-0. It was their sixth win in a row. Clemson improved to 21-2 overall and 4-1 in the ACC, while FSU fell to 19-2 overall and 3-2 in the ACC.

They’ll wrap up the three-game series on Sunday with a 1:00 PM EST first pitch. That one will be televised on ACC Network Extra.

Clemson’s Cam Cannarella made one of the best catches of the year so far, when he scaled the wall to rob Florida State of a potential home run. Jacob McGovern (1-0) got the first win of his career by throwing two scoreless innings. Carson Dorsey (2-1) had the loss for the FSU staff. Seminoles’ starter Jamie Arnold allowed just three hits, one run, two walks, and nine strikeouts in seven innings.

Before joining Clemson, Hinderleider played for Davidson from 2020-2023. He had an impressive career there, hitting .273 with 115 runs, 43 doubles, five triples, 25 home runs, 133 RBIs, and 15 steals in 170 games.
