Like Georgia, Clemson has become a familiar spot for Jefferson (Ga.) five-star linebacker Sammy Brown. Two days after Brown visited Georgia for the ninth time, On3’s Chad Simmons has learned that Brown arrived at Clemson for his eighth visit to the campus on Monday.

Schools like Ohio State, South Carolina and Tennessee have also hosted Brown multiple times but none come close to Clemson and Georgia. He was last at Clemson on Jan. 28.

Those two schools also have the highest chance of landing his commitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Sammy Brown is the No. 18 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Georgia.

Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee as well as Notre Dame and Oklahoma were the six schools Brown noted as his top six when he talked to Simmons in January.

“Those are the programs that have really stood out to me in this whole process and have really kept constant relationships,” Brown told On3. “It can always change. It can always be flipped or anything like that. But right now, it’s those top six.”

Following the visit to Clemson, Brown has two more spring visits lined up. He’ll visit Oklahoma on April 5-6 before heading back to Tennessee on April 8.

Clemson and Ohio State are the only two schools so far that Brown has locked official visits in with as he’ll take the visit to Clemson on June 2 and the Ohio State visit on June 16. According to Simmons, Brown also has tentative plans to be back at Georgia the weekend of June 10.

Clemson continually standing out to Sammy Brown

Following his last visit to Clemson, Brown talked with On3’s Jeremy Johnson about why Clemson remains so high on his list.

One of the biggest things that’s stood out to Brown about the Tigers is his relationship with defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin.

“I would say we have similar personalities,” Brown said of himself and Goodwin. “The way he coaches compared to the way I play, as well as off the field. He’s a country boy, he likes to hunt and fish and I think he’s spending his spring break pheasant hunting.

“You wouldn’t think it, but when he gets on the field, he’s very aggressive. He’s yelling and screaming and all of that. I would say that’s a good reflection of how I play, maybe not as vocally but I play aggressively.”

He also noted Dabo Swinney’s faith and beliefs as aligning with his as a positive. Clemson’s culture as a whole is one that Brown acknowledged aligns very much with his.

“I think they are able to flip a switch and that’s something that not a lot of teams can do,” Brown said. “I think only the best of the best can do that where you’re very good upstanding citizens off the field and you get on the field, you’re aggressive and mean. Only the elite teams can do that.”
