Hays (Kan.) High four-star athlete Jaren Kanak is one of the best pure athletes in the country. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, he boasts a 10.37-second 100-meter dash time.

Kanak, who is committed to Clemson, also can now brag about one of the most bruising touchdown runs you’ll see this season.

In Hays’ 48-26 loss to Maize on Friday night, Kanak bowled over five defenders and broke another tackle from a sixth on the way to the end zone on a 61-yard score.

The run reminded some observers of Mike Alstott and others of Derrick Henry. Either way, it was a tremendous display of pure power, athleticism and strength from the nation’s 14th ranked athlete and top overall recruit in the Sunflower State.

Jaren Kanak part of top-five Clemson class

Jaren Kanak had a long list of national-level offers, including from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Florida and Clemson. He officially visited Kansas, Iowa, Washington State and Alabama before committing to Clemson in late July.

Adam Luckett of On3’s Clemson Sports believes Jaren Kanak is going to be a perfect fit in the Tigers’ defense.

“Kanak will bring a specific skillset to Clemson that will allow the Tigers to continue what has been some really productive play from the off-ball linebackers in their 4-3 scheme over the last few seasons,” Luckett wrote.

“The athleticism jumps off of the screen when Kanak’s tape starts rolling. He logged snaps at wide receiver, running back, and Wildcat quarterback on offense. He did this while playing both inside and outside linebacker on defense. In simple terms, this is an all-around football player who will likely transition to a spot at linebacker in college.

“Additions like Kanak assure the Tigers that the defense will continue to remain elite in the future.”

And now Jaren Kanak owns one of the more freakish, bullish and impressive runs of the 2021 high school football season.
