Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral three-star quarterback Danny O’Neil has committed to Colorado, he announced on Tuesday.

“First off I would like to thank my parents for their endless love and support,” he wrote on Twitter. “You guys have given me every opportunity I could have asked for without ever questioning a thing. I want to thank my Cathedral coaches and the Morelli family for supporting me and pushing me to become the player that I am today.

… Thank you to all of the coaches who gave me the opportunity to continue my career for their school. And lastly I want to thank God for blessing me and allowing me to play the game I love. With that being said l will be continuing my athletic and academic career and the University of Colorado.”

O’Neil is the No. 549 overall prospect and No. 30 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player in Indiana.

The 6-foot-0.5, 180-pound signal-caller chose the Buffaloes over offers from Kentucky, Purdue, Louisville, Indiana and more.

“It’s being able to come in and compete for a spot early, not being handed a spot, necessarily, but fighting for it and having an equal opportunity to fight for it early,” he told KSR last month about what he wanted in a potential school. “Being in a system that fits my skill set, playing for coaches that have my back, and being in a stable coaching environment where I’m going to be with the guy that I committed to.”

As a junior last season, O’Neil completed 207 of 329 attempts (62.5%) for 2,654 yards and 32 touchdowns as Cathedral finished 10-2.

More on Colorado’s recruiting efforts under Deion Sanders

O’Neil is the fifth commitment in the 2024 cycle for the Buffaloes since Deion Sanders became Colorado’s head coach. He Joins Valdosta (Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Omar White, Lafayette (La.) four-star cornerback Ju’Juan Johnson, Valdosta (Ga.) On3 four-star defensive lineman Eric Brantley Jr. and St. Peter’s (Mo.) Nevada three-star offensive lineman Talan Chandler.

The Buffaloes’ class currently ranks No. 15 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and sits second in the Pac-12 behind only Oregon.

Colorado also signed two quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle: Stevenson Ranch (Calif.) West Ranch three-star Ryan Staub and Douglasville (Ga.) South Paulding three-star quarterback Kasen Weisman.

O’Neil has an On3 NIL Valuation of $22K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
