Fort Lauderdale (Fla) American Heritage running back Byron Louis isn’t in a rush to make his commitment. And he’s taking all the necessary visits to feel comfortable with the decision he ultimately makes.

Miami, Ohio State, Florida State and Michigan are very much in contention for him, but another school has thrown its hat in the ring: Colorado.

The excitement around the Buffaloes’ program is palpable, and he wants to get to Boulder and see what Deion Sanders’ program is about.

He’ll do exactly that this week, as he told On3’s Chad Simmons he is set for a multi-day visit to CU beginning on Wednesday. He’ll stay through the rest of the week and will be in attendance for the Buffs’ spring game on Saturday as well.

Buffs battling Ohio State, FSU, Miami and more for Louis

Earlier this month, Louis locked in his official visit to Ohio State, as well another to Wisconsin. The return trip to Columbus this summer is the third official visit he has scheduled, along with a trip to Miami the weekend of May 31 and the visit to the Badgers June 7.

The Hurricanes have become a factor in his recruitment as a Miami-area prospect, and he has lots of ties to the program in Coral Gables. Mario Cristobal and Co. also recently brought in a new running backs coach, and Louis’ visit at the end of March was his first chance to meet him in person.

“We talked a lot prior to (the visit) – honestly there was nothing but good energy and good vibes,” Louis told CaneSport. “But I got to see a different side of him (Merritt) today while they were practicing. He just wants nothing but the best for his guys, and I really do appreciate that, because he’s not going to just let you do whatever or BS him. You’re going to get the real him.”

Right now though, it’s Florida State trending in his recruitment, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

“High energy and good vibes,” he said of his recent stop in Tallahassee. “Coach Norvell & Coach Yac (David Johnson) are what continues to excite me. I see the hard work that they are putting in on a consistent bases and I like that. It just shows their hard work and dedication to being excellent is the standard.”
