Auburn transfer defensive back Colton Hood is busy lining up his visits in the portal this week. According to his Twitter page, Hood will be visiting the Colorado Buffaloes on Thursday. He announced the news with a few emojis on his social media channels.

He helped the Tigers to a 6-7 record in 2023.

Hood was a four-star recruit and the No. 383 overall player in the country in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry rankings.

The Georgia native appeared in four games while redshirting in 2023. He finished his first season of college football with three tackles.

Colton Hood played on both sides of the ball at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy prior to coming to Auburn.

Hood was a dynamic athlete in high school

As a senior in high school, he was named the 2022 Region 5-2A Athlete of the Year. Hood recorded 40 tackles and had three interceptions defensively as a senior.

He also starred on the baseball field, earning all-state honors, in addition to running track and playing basketball. In track, he was part of an all-state 4 x 100 relay team.

Auburn finished 6-7 overall and 3-5 in the SEC. They lost three straight games to end the 2023-2024 campaign. But one of those losses was a 27-24 heartbreaker to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tigers had the Tide on the ropes in the fourth quarter, but Jalen Milroe connected with Isaiah Bond for the 31-yard game-winning touchdown toss with 32 seconds remaining. It was still one of the best performances for the Auburn Tigers for the 2023-2024 campaign, even though it was an excruciating defeat.

The Colorado Buffaloes had an impressive start to the 2023-2024 season, rattling off three straight wins. One of those was a classic 43-35 double overtime thriller against the Colorado State Rams. But the optimism on the season quickly came to a screeching halt when Colorado was whipped 42-6 by the Oregon Ducks. To finish the year, the Buffaloes lost six straight.

One of those was a 56-14 throttling at the hands of the Washington State Cougars. Colorado gave their program a nice little jolt last season, but this year they will be a marked team and won’t sneak up on anyone. They’ll need to be locked in from the opening game, no doubt.
