Colorado transfer wide receiver Chamon Metayer recently entered the transfer portal in search of a new home. On Wednesday evening, the wideout announced on his Twitter page that he’s committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Metayer spent a previous stint with the Cincinnati Bearcats

Prior to Colorado, Metayer played for the Cincinnati Bearcats, where he hauled in 24 catches for 290 yards and five touchdowns. Those were his totals for three seasons with the Bearcats. In 2023, he broke onto the scene with 23 catches for 258 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Metayer scored his first career touchdown early in the season against Brigham Young.

In 2022, he had to miss six games with the Bearcats due to injuries.

Metayer has two years of eligibility remaining with the Sun Devils.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, Metayer has the size to make him a threat both as a blocker and receiver. He appeared in 17 games over his three seasons at Cincinnati, so he’ll also offer experience for ASU.

As a high school recruit, Metayer was a four-star prospect coming out of North Miami High School in Miami, Florida. He ranked as the No. 399 overall player and No. 24 athlete in the 2021 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Colorado is coming off of its first season under coach Deion Sanders, who led the Buffaloes to a 4-8 finish after they went 1-11 the year prior to his arrival.

Arizona State had a rough season in 2023-2024, finishing 3-9 overall and 2-7 in the Pac-12 Conference. That being said, they still had a couple of surprise wins, including a 38-27 win over Washington State and a 17-7 over a very talented UCLA Bruins’ team. One of their losses was a 15-7 loss to the Washington Huskies, the team that went on to advance all the way to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

That being said, the Sun Devils still have plenty of excitement surrounding their new head coach, Kenny Dillingham, as he’s just in his second year of a rebuild job. ASU will open up their 2024 campaign with the Wyoming Cowboys on August 31st and the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday, Sept. 7th.
