Deion Sanders called on the Rose Bowl to reimburse his players after Colorado reported stolen items from the locker room over the weekend.

Sanders, who basked in the glow of actually coaching in the legendary stadium, added fuel to the fire of the unfortunate incident. He felt it was more than fair for the stadium to help out.

As usual, Sanders didn’t mince words.

“This is the Rose Bowl,” Sanders said, via David Ubben. “They say the Granddaddy of them all, right? I’m sure Granddaddy has some money.”

During a road game to take on UCLA, several Colorado players apparently had belongings stolen, including several chains.

A video posted online showed a handful of players discussing the issue outside of the facilities following the game, which ended in a 28-16 UCLA win. Multiple players lamented the theft, including some that had just purchased chains recently.

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly was stunned by the incident and called it “awful.”

“I was just told walking over here, awful,” Kelly said. “The Pasadena Police were looking into it, but I literally just found out one minute ago so.”

UCLA made a statement regarding the stolen jewelry the day after the game and how the Pasadena Police will be involved in the efforts.

“The UCLA athletic department confirmed that a report was filed to the Pasadena Police Department following the UCLA-Colorado football game regarding items that were reportedly missing from the Colorado locker room,” the statement read. “UCLA is in communication with law enforcement, Rose Bowl Stadium officials, and the University of Colorado on the matter.”

It’s just salt in the wound for Colorado, which has come on tough times after a galvanizing start to the season.

Colorado has now lost four of its last five games, including two games by just one possession.

After winning four of the first six games this season, there will be a lot on the line for the Buffaloes in the final month of the season. The team still needs two more wins to secure bowl eligibility, and it’ll be a tough path to get there.

Remaining games on the schedule are at home against No. 16 Oregon State and Arizona, then on the road at Washington State and No. 18 Utah.
