Arizona defensive lineman Taylor Upshaw made it personal heading into Saturday’s game against Colorado and Shedeur Sanders. After committing to play for the Buffaloes this spring before ultimately reversing course and transferring to the Wildcats, Upshaw had some trash talk leading up to the contest.

He posted a video of clip of Mike Tyson to his Instagram story, tagging the Colorado quarterback with the caption “Get Your Mind Right little boy @shedeursanders.”

Upshaw was able to get his revenge on the field as the Wildcats defeated the Buffaloes 34-31 on Saturday in Boulder. Colorado coach and Sanders’ father Deion Sanders was asked about the comments from Upshaw postgame, but didn’t seem to want to make a big deal out of things.

“That’s a young man taking advantage of his moment,” Sanders explained. “It is what it is.”

Upshaw originally transferred to Colorado this offseason after playing first four years of his college career with Michigan. He ranked as the No. 57 edge rusher in On3’s Transfer Portal Player Rankings. So far this season with the Wildcats, he leads the team with 7.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss to go along with a forced fumble.

The loss for Colorado marked its fourth straight as the Buffaloes fell to 4-6 on the season. With only two games remaining, they’ll need to win both to become bowl eligible in Deion Sanders’ inaugural season.

The Arizona defense managed to hold Shedeur Sanders to 262 yards passing and two touchdowns while also sacking him three times. Upshaw wasn’t able to land a sack on the Buffaloes quarterback but still made his presence felt with three total tackles.

Colorado had its chances to win Saturday against Arizona but ultimately missed those opportunities. The game entered the fourth quarter tied at 31 and remained at that score late into the game. The Buffaloes were presented with an attempt to take the lead with around five minutes remaining, but missed a 44-yard field goal.

The Wildcats got the ball back and put together a 57-yard drive as they milked some time off the clock and put themselves in position to win the game. They ran the all the way down to the 1-yard line before taking a knee and running the clock down to two seconds and kicking the game-winning score.

It’s been quite the downslide for Deion Sanders and Colorado after a 3-0 start to the year, but they’ll aim to get back on track next week. The Buffaloes next take on Washington State at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Pullman.
