The Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders are on a quest to find the program’s defensive coordinator for the 2024 season. Colorado does have a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball, so finding the right voice to lead the defense is imperative in Sanders’s second year. But how close is the Buffaloes’ headman to pinning down his next DC?

Sanders recently was a guest on former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Robert Griffin III‘s podcast, RG3 and The Ones. And it was there that the Colorado head coach discussed his current search for a defensive coordinator and how many individuals are in the running for the position.

“No. It might be three people it might be out of three people right now. They’re in interviews as well,” said Sanders. “They’re really good, they really are relational, and they really know this game; know this game and can utilize what we have here and take them to the next level.”

Although Sanders didn’t divulge too much about who his top three candidates are, it appears as if a decision will be made soon. And, by the look of it, the Colorado head coach is taking his time making a decision to ensure he hires the right individual to lead his defense as they attempt to build off of their much improved 2023 season.

New Mexico State LB Nikhil Webb Walker commits to Colorado

Nikhil Webb Walker, a linebacker who just finished his second season at New Mexico State, is coming to Colorado after committing out of the transfer portal.

Webb Walker shared his announcement with a graphic on social media on Friday.

Over his pair of seasons with the Aggies, Webb Walker posted 28 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. Much of that came this past season as he finished with 24 tackles and top-five on the team in sacks overall.

Webb Walker played high school football at Bridgton Academy (ME) as a member of the 2022 cycle.

Webb Walker is the 22nd portal addition for Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes out of the portal as part of the No. 2 class according to On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Rankings. He is the ninth transfer for their defense in what is another significant group now coming to Boulder.
