Four-star athlete Aaron Butler of Calabasas (CA) High announced his commitment to Colorado on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-1, 175 pounder chose the Buffs over Georgia, Oregon, and others.

Butler on why he chose Colorado

“What ultimately drove my decision can’t be summed up in just one thing.

It was combination of multiple factors such as:

• Quality education and active alumni network committed to returning CU to its glory days – I want to major in Sports/Media Broadcasting and minor in Business; we spoke about tapping me in with Chris Fowler to show me the ropes.

• NFL prep – coverage IQ & route running abilities in a face-paced “pass heavy” Coach Lewis offense which seeks to make every coverage “wrong” increasing my chances of being +1,000 yard WR year over year.

• Opportunity to compete and play early. I want to graduate in December and report in January to get acclimated, play, and contribute immediately!

• Opportunity to be a part of an epic rebuild…..something legendary. Even in the NIL/Transfer Portal era, what Coach Prime and his Team is doing is truly remarkable.

• Iron sharpens iron – daily competition against 2 of the best CB’s in the nation Travis Hunter and Cormani McClain. Saturdays should be a breeze. This also ties back into NFL prep.

• The opportunity to learn brand-building and leadership from one of the greatest athletes of all-time, Coach Prime.

• Last but not least, the way CU recruited not only me, but also my Family was 2nd to none. The new staff offered as a WR and SHOWED me I was a priority from day 1. Coach BB is my guy, he has earned my trust with his actions. Words, graphics, and mail are nice, but they way he shows up for me is incomparable.

Sorry for the long winded response, but this answer is a bit comprehensive. Any other response wouldn’t do it justice.”

Butler ranks as the No. 122 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 4 athlete and the No. 16 player in the state of California.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $115K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
