The Minnesota Vikings are expected to hire Colorado defensive tackles coach Patrick Hill as an assistant defensive line coach, On3’s Matt Zenitz reports. Hill was initially hired by the Buffaloes on Jan. 27 before being poached by the NFL.

Hill was a defensive analyst at LSU in 2022 and had been a jounrneyman throughout the lower tier of college football prior. Hill helped Concordia-Chicago to win a NATHC Championship in 2011 and Adrian College to the MIAAC Championship in 2012.

His other coaching stops include James Madison, West Virginia State, Eastern Michigan, Central Oklahoma, Upper Iowa and Birmingham Southern, among others.  At Angelo State, he coached Markus Jones, who won the national defensive player of the year in his league and ended up going to the NFL.

Tickets sold for 2023 Colorado spring game surpass attendance of past seven years

To say there is excitement surrounding Colorado football would be an understatement. Deion Sanders has been hired to turn around what has been one of the Power Five’s worst programs. National media, recruits, and Buff fans are buzzing over the move.

Sanders will make his unofficial debut as Colorado’s head coach in just over two months, with the spring game scheduled for April 22. While the Black & Gold game has not been a staple in Boulder over the past few years, Coach Prime has changed things. Folsom Field is expected to be packed, with more tickets being sold this year and the previous attendance of the last seven years.

“For the first time, Colorado is selling tickets to its spring game, which is 2 months from tomorrow,” Brian Howell of Buffzone said. “So far, the #cubuffs have sold 30,013 tickets. For perspective, CU counted a total of 30,450 fans who showed up (for free) to the last 7 spring games combined. Last year: 1,950.”

Fans will be looking at a completely different roster at the spring game. Twenty new recruits will be entering the program, including five-star cornerback Cormani McClain. However, he is not even the most high-profile player joining the program, with Travis Hunter leading a group of 27 transfers.

Sanders will grab all of the headlines and rightfully so. He is the one orchestrating the rebuild for Colorado. However, an improved product on the field will bring the most excitement, especially after a 1-11 record a season ago. The spring game will be the first glance.
