Pac-12 wide receiver sends message to announce transfer destination

Former Colorado wide receiver La’Vontae Shenault, brother of school legend Laviska Shenault, announced Wednesday that he plans to transfer to Alabama State. The redshirt freshman came to Colorado as a three-star prospect in the 2019 class and appeared in 11 games.

La’Vontae Shenault did not record any stats over his four appearances in 2019 but was named offensive scout of the week twice ahead of Pac-12 games. That same season, his brother finished with 925 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns before entering the 2020 NFL Draft.

The younger Shenault had his best statistical season in 2020 with 17 catches for 193 yards and two kick returns for 55 yards. Before deciding to transfer, he posted six receptions for 60 yards in 2021 but played his fewest games of his three-year career.

After announcing his transfer destination, La’Vontae Shenault then posted a heartfelt farewell message to those who supported him over the past several years.

“First and foremost I want to thank God, my family, friends, and my loyal supporters, also everyone else who has contributed through this process it has been for my college career,” the statement read. “This process has been uneasy mentally, but my family and friends has helped me push through. That bring said I would love to say I’ll be furthering my education and athletic career to Alabama State University.”

Colorado safety announces commitment

Former Colorado defensive back Mark Perry entered the transfer portal just before Christmas Day, Dec. 28. And now, just 13 days later, he decided on the new place he will call home for the 2022 season.

In less than two weeks, Perry has announced that he will be and savings like that heading to Texas Christian University, TCU, to become a member of the Horned Frogs program. The redshirt sophomore announced his decision from his personal Twitter account on Monday. Perry becomes the third transfer headed to Fort Worth, TX, over the past few days.

Perry started all 12 games at safety for the Buffaloes in 2021. He led the team in interceptions with three on the year and was third in tackles with 72. As a true freshman, Perry played in eight games in 2019. And in the COVID shortened 2020 season, he played and started in all five games. His time at Colorado concludes with him recording 91 total tackles, 63 solo, 28 assists, four pass breakups, two sacks, and three interceptions.
