Duke linebacker Ryan Smith won’t transfer away from the Blue Devils after all, as On3 has learned that he withdrew from the transfer portal Monday morning.

Across 30 career games — including one start — has compiled 24 tackles, 4.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks, one PBU, two forced fumbles and a blocked punt during his time in Durham. He has 517 snaps worth of experience entering the transfer portal.

Smith played high school football at Harrison (GA) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,639 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. At Harrison, Smith helped lead his squad to a 33-7 record over three-year career, including winning Georgia’s state championship with a 15-0 record in 2019.

Aside from Duke, he was recruited by Louisville, Troy and FAU, among others coming out of high school.

For Duke, they will be battling Troy in the 2023 Birmingham Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 23 with opening kickoff slated for Noon ET live on ABC.
