Mike Krzyzewski’s legendary coaching career isn’t coming to an end quite yet, as the Duke Blue Devils are onto next weekend’s Final Four. Duke has continued its impressive run in the NCAA Tournament, picking up some impressive victories along the way.

This season is the 13th time that Krzyzewski has led Duke to the Final Four. But this year’s team is striving to achieve more by sending Krzyzewski out with a national title.

After Saturday night’s victory over Arkansas in the Elite Eight, Krzyzewski was asked where this year’s Duke Final Four team ranks all-time among the teams he has coached. Krzyzewski wasn’t willing to put this year’s team up against any of the other ones that he’s led in his career.

“I could and then get those teams mad at me,” Krzyzewski said when asked to rank this Duke team among all of the ones he has coached. “So just like I don’t rate my daughters or my grandchildren, I’m not going to rate — I’m not going to do that, but obviously, this is one of 13 that have gone to a Final Four, so they’re right up there.”

Krzyzewski has undoubtedly put together some incredibly impressive teams while at Duke. The Blue Devils have won 15 ACC Tournament championships, 13 regular season ACC titles, and five national championships in addition to the now 13 Final Four appearances. Krzyzewski’s 13th Final Four appearance will pass Hall of Fame coach John Wooden, who had 12.

Duke has now won the West Region, and will face off against the winner of North Carolina-Saint Peter’s in Krzyzewski’s last Final Four next weekend.

Duke, Krzyzewski advanced to the Final Four out of a tough West Region

The West Region contained the NCAA Tournament’s top overall seed in Gonzaga, in addition to other quality teams throughout. On its way to the Final Four as part of the farewell tour for Krzyzewski, Duke has defeated 15th-seeded Cal State Fullerton, seventh-seeded Michigan State, third-seeded Texas Tech, and fourth-seeded Arkansas. The Blue Devils, the No. 2 seed in the region, have outlasted them all, setting up another Final Four run.

Following Duke’s 78-69 victory over Arkansas on Saturday, Krzyzewski opened up on how exciting it is to be heading back to the Final Four.

“I’m so happy,” Krzyzewski said after Duke’s win. “We crossed the bridge. There’s nothing like being a regional champ and going to the Final Four, and playing on that Saturday with three other champions. It’s an amazing day.”
