Florida A&M head coach James Colzie provided an interesting update on Florida State transfer running back Rodney Hill during his introductory press conference on Monday.

Hill entered the transfer portal in December, before committing to FAMU. However, on Jan. 1, Hill decommitted from FAMU, before committing to Miami a few weeks later as a preferred walk on.

Not it appears as though Rodney Hill could be joining the Florida A&M program after all.

Colzie said during his press conference on Monday that Hill was coming back to Florida A&M, according to Florida A&M beat reporter Gerald Thomas.

Hill has yet to make any sort of an announcement about his future, but he did delete his commitment post for Miami from earlier this month.

Hill signed with Florida State as a three-star running back in the class of 2022. He was ranked as the No. 38 back in the country, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

As a freshman in 2022, the Georgia native appeared in four games. He had 27 carries for 144 yards and a touchdown.

This past season, Hill had 50 carries for 190 yards and a score. He then entered the transfer portal at the conclusion of the season.

“I wanna thank my coaches and FSU for bringing me in. Much love to all my teammates and to the strength staff and trainers that have worked with me while I been here but I will be entering the transfer portal,” Hill wrote on his Twitter profile.

During his freshman year in 2022, Mike Norvell circled Hill as a player who could make a splash for the Seminoles.

“Yeah, Rodney’s an explosive player. You know, I’m excited about his future. He’s gotta continue to work on some of the details of what he needs to do and that’s part of it as a freshman. But you know, he’s gonna put himself in a position if he continues to develop like he is and [he’ll have] an opportunity to be able to impact this team,” Norvell said.

His senior season for Bulloch Academy, Hill had 38 rushes for 344 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 9.1 yards per carry. He also snagged 12 balls for 152 receiving yards and one touchdown. During his final two seasons of high school football, he racked up 1,242 all-purpose yards. A dynamic athlete, the 5-foot-10, 186-pounder also played wide receiver, running back, and defensive back for Bulloch. Hill also ran track and played basketball for them, too.
