Florida Gators fans are buying into a new era under Billy Napier and proving it with their season ticket purchases. The first-year head coach announced that the program has sold more season tickets than any season in the last five years.

“We’re excited to announce that we’ve sold more season tickets at this point maybe than in the last five years, right, so, really thankful for the support,” Napier said in his opening statement. “We’ve got unbelievable fans and alumni group, the students, obviously, selling out their portion of tickets. Getting closer, just a few spots left, few tickets left and we’re excited about that.

“We’ve said from the beginning here, if we’re going to have success it’s going to require a team effort. Our fans and their positive energy, the things they bring to game day, make the Swamp a unique and challenging place to play. There’s no question that we’re very thankful.”

Fans are undoubtedly excited to see what Napier can cook up with returning quarterback Anthony Richardson. Despite his short resume, Richardson is among the preseason candidates for the Heisman Trophy.

Although Florida missed the cut for the preseason coaches’ top 25 poll, the team still received 17 votes. It’s clear the new head coach has to prove the offseason progress before winning more votes.

Napier thanks students for ticket sales

The Gators student body sold out its season ticket allotment, meaning the student section will be roaring at The Swamp all year long. Napier started fall camp with a statement thanking the students for their interest in his team and expressed his excitement for the atmosphere in 2022.

“Just want to thank our student body for their support,” Napier said as the Gators reported to training camp. “Obviously, sold out the season tickets for the students. Without question, I think if you talk to opponents, our student section is a factor. They can impact the game and we’re certainly excited about what they’re going to bring, the energy and how they can to influence the game and certainly help our team.”

Florida gets the 2022 season started in big fashion with a Week 1 showdown against reigning Pac-12 champion Utah on Sept. 3. That game is getting the prime time treatment, too, kicking off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
