Class of 2024 offensive tackle Mike Williams of Baltimore (MD) Charles Herbert Flowers High announced his commitment to Florida Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot-7, 310 pounder was previously committed to South Carolina, before decommitting in May.

Williams on why he chose Florida

“What stood out about Florida was how the coaches and players interacted with each other. It’s all about family in Gainesville especially with the offensive line. Being there this weekend really showed me how they are able to bond off the field and transition it to the field.  Another thing that stood out was that they have basically 2 offensive line coaches, which is great for development compared to just one coach coaching 15-18 guys. Their motto is 5=1 and they stand by that. Coach Stapleton and Sale have a developmental system that works and I would love to be a part of it and will.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for Williams

“My relationship with the coaching staff is great,” Williams said. “This weekend I got to meet the most genuine and sincere people ever who just want the best for me and other recruits on and off the field. This was my first time in Gainesville but coach Sale, who extended me an offer in April, has been in communication since April and coach Bateman since January. Their plan for me is to play tackle.”

The Maryland offensive tackle joins coach Billy Napier and the Gators’ top 5 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by five-star quarterback DJ Lagway, four-star safety Xavier Filsaime, and others.

Williams ranks as the No. 1346 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 100 offensive tackle and the No. 38 player in the state of Maryland.

He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
