Florida is expected to add former Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos to the coaching staff, according Gator Online’s Corey Bender.

Enos was fired prior to the end of the season after the Razorbacks struggled on offense. For his new role in 2024, it’ll be off the field, per Bender.

Enos spent one year at Arkansas before coming to Florida and was the offensive coordinator at Maryland for two seasons prior to going to the SEC.

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman explained why he parted ways with Enos midseason. It simply wasn’t working, but that didn’t take anything away from Enos as a coach.

“I can’t really put my finger on it, because he’s a hell of a coach, a good man and has had great success in his career,” Pittman said. “I really don’t know. Maybe we aren’t a pocket protection team. We ran it, I don’t know, probably averaged eight to 10 dropbacks per game in the previous three years, maybe a little bit more when Feleipe Franks was here. It’s just our quarterback wasn’t great at just sitting in the pocket. Our wideouts weren’t getting open. We couldn’t protect. A lot of things.”

Beyond the Xs and Os, Pittman simply felt like the Arkansas offense had lost its mojo. That was reason enough for change.

“Maybe that’s part of it, but I just think everything was hard for us,” Pittman said. “Everything was very difficult. Three yards was difficult. I don’t know exactly why because Dan’s a fine coach. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I do know that we lost our spirit. How we did that I really can’t put a finger on that, but we’ve got to get it back.”

Billy Napier adds Dan Enos to Florida Gators staff

Billy Napier added Enos to an off-the-field role, but on a related note, the head coach talked play calling for the upcoming season. After national signing day, Napier revealed what was to come.

“Yeah, you know, we’re in the process of defining those roles is what I would say, and I think we’re working our way through that,” Napier said. “I do think that we will, there’ll be different responsibilities to some degree, you know, I think you’ll see, we’ll probably talk more specific about that in the future, but I do think, much like we made a hire in the NIL space, the chief of staff, front-office space with Mark Robinson, we made a hire in special teams, which I assume you’re going to ask.”

Napier made sure to pin point that everything was a process.

“Really an effort to put the right things in place, so that you know the time is allocated for me in the right places, you know, I think it’s been a heckuva two years in terms of all the new things that come with the job,” Napier said. “So offensively, I think that we will, we may have different titles and responsibilities within that group of people. There could be an addition or two, we’ve shuffled the deck a little bit in terms of those things, but ultimately we’ll keep the same system and keep moving forward in that regard.”
