Elite 2024 linebacker Jamonta Waller of Picayune (MS) Memorial High announced his commitment to Florida Monday night.

The 6-foot-2, 235 pounder chose the Gators over Auburn and Penn State.

Waller on why he chose Florida

“The people,” Waller said. “It just felt like home both times I went to Gainesville. They made me feel like a priority.”

Relationship with coaching staff + the moment Waller knew he was going to be a Gator

The coaches I’m closest with are Mike Peterson and Armstrong,” Waller said. “They want me coming off the edge at the jack position.”

“I realized I wanted to be a Florida Gator at 4am last night, that’s when I knew it was home. So I woke up this morning and called coach Billy.”

Waller ranks as the No. 61 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 7 linebacker and the No. 2 player in the state of Mississippi.

The Mississippi linebacker joins coach Billy Napier and the Gators’ Top 3 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star quarterback DJ Lagway, four-star safety Xavier Filsaime, and others.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $108K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
