The Florida Gators completely turned it on in the second half against their bitter rivals, the Florida State Seminoles. In the first half, Florida shot just 28 percent from the floor and trailed 43-26 at halftime. Then, the Gators exploded out of the gates in the second half, going on a 30-5 run to pull out to a 56-48 advantage. To cap off the run, Florida small forward Alex Fudge had one of the best highlights of the night when he put Florida State’s seven-footer Naheem McLeod on a poster.

Check it out as Fudge goes baseline and sends it in right over the Florida State defender.

It’ll undoubtedly end up on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays of the night. What a play by Fudge! The game was televised on the ACC Network. The Gators ended up closing the game out and prevailing in the second half, 76-67. The win was Florida’s first victory in Tallahassee since December 5th, 2012.

The Gators erased a 17-point halftime deficit in the first five minutes of the second half. They outscored the Seminoles in the second half, 50-24. Florida was carried by their superstar big man, Colin Castleton. He poured in 25 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out one assist.

The win pushes the Gators’ record to 3-1 overall and Florida State is still winless this year, as they fell to 0-4 for the 2022 season. It’s been a rough start to the year for Leonard Hamilton and company, to say the least.

Next up, the Gators will take on the Xavier Musketeers. That one is set for November 24th. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM EST.
