Former Ohio State quarterback Jack Miller is officially headed to Gainesville.

On Tuesday morning, On3’s Matt Zenitz reported Miller was a potential target for Florida. The former four-star recruit made the announcement himself on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

The redshirt freshman was the second quarterback to leave Columbus this season, as true freshman Quinn Ewers also departed and ended up at Texas. Quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Kyle McCord remain on the Buckeyes roster. They were the No. 1 and No. 2 signal callers this season, while Miller was considered the third-string option.

Miller completed seven of 14 passes for 101 yards this season in four games as a reliever. His only career touchdown was a rushing score in 2020 against Nebraska. He was suspended for a portion of the 2021 season after an arrest related to drinking and driving. It was ultimately changed to reckless operation.

Miller held offers from numerous SEC schools out of high school, including Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and Ole Miss, but Florida was not on the list. He was the No. 24 quarterback in the 2020 class according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The Arizona native is heading into a quarterback room that will lose Emory Jones to the transfer portal, but new head coach Billy Napier still has 6-foot-4, 225-pound Anthony Richardson on the roster. Richardson will not play in Florida’s bowl game after undergoing knee surgery, but he was the likely the presumed starter for 2022 prior to the transfer news. Jones will play in the Gasparilla Bowl before formally entering the portal.

Florida plays UCF in the Tampa-based bowl on Dec. 23 to end their season. Greg Knox will serve as interim head coach while Napier continues to get acquainted in Gainesville.
