Sharpsburg (Ga.) Trinity Christian School four-star safety Aaron Gates lost the season-opener of his senior season. However, the Florida commit made a stellar move during the 37-19 loss to College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy.

After catching a pass near the right sideline, Gates leaned backwards and placed his right hand on the turf. His move caused the defender to miss a tackle, allowing Gates to stand back up and take off down the field for a long gain.

Gates is the No. 343 overall recruit and No. 33 safety in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 35 player in Georgia.

The 6-foot-0, 180 pound defensive back is one of two safeties in Florida’s 2023 recruiting class alongside Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange four-star Jordan Castell. He and Thomaston (Ga.) Upson-Lee four-star defensive lineman T.J. Searcy are the Gators’ only pledges from Georgia.

Florida’s 2023 class contains 20 commitments and is made up of 16 four-stars and 4 three-stars. The group is ranked No. 10 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 4 in the SEC.

Gates has an On3 NIL Valuation of $23K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
