Winter Garden (Fla.) Jones three-star quarterback Trever Jackson backed off of his Ole Miss commitment at the end of October, opting to reopen his recruitment.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder stayed patient and waited for things to take shape. Eventually, after the December signing period, Florida State — Jackson’s dream school — emerged as a real option. He jumped at the opportunity and committed to the Seminoles.

“I made the decision about two weeks ago. Player Personnel Director Chuck Cantor called me and asked if I was still interested in coming. I told him of course and he started working to get it done,” Jackson said. “I told him the minute it’s done I’m on the way.”

Jackson, the No. 558 overall prospect and No. 35 QB in the On3 Industry Ranking, has always had interest in playing under Mike Norvell and the FSU staff. Despite the Seminoles already having a QB signee in the 2024 class, Jackson stayed the course and is now a part of a top-five recruiting class.

“It became serious with FSU after signing day. Their QB numbers were down. I sent a message to Coach that I was still unsigned, uncommitted and eligible as an early enrollee,” Jackson said.

“I did well at one of the mega camps last year and I told Coach Norvell and the rest of the staff all I needed was a chance to compete. “I knew it was a long shot since they already had a 2024 QB committed but I stayed in touch with Coach (Tony) Tokarz throughout my recruiting process.”

The chance to dawn garnet and gold is not lost on Jackson. Hailing from the Sunshine State, he’s seen his fair share of FSU games and knows what it means to play at a place like Doak Campbell Stadium. His late grandmother was a Seminoles fan, making the chance to play for FSU even more special.

“Ruby Collins Moore, she was a big fan of FSU, every time she saw me she would say ‘If you every get the opportunity…Granny thinks you should go to FSU.’ I’m extremely happy that I have this opportunity to make her proud,” Jackson said.

He isn’t wasting any time, either. He’s already signed and enrolled with the Seminoles and is moved in on campus, ready to make an impact in Tallahassee.
