Last year, Florida State was shocked on National Signing Day. Longtime Seminoles commit and five-star athlete Travis Hunter flipped his commitment to Jackson State.

This year, head coach Mike Norvell made sure to lock in a five-star, as Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams signed with Florida State on Wednesday. According to Zach Blostein of 247 Sports, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders called Williams before his signing ceremony. As a result, the 6-foot-2.5, 215-pound wideout made sure to reaffirm his loyalty to the Seminoles.

“Ain’t no Travis Hunter over here,” Williams said on Instagram Live. “We locked in. Time to work.”

Williams is the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 5 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Florida.

The five-star is currently the top prospect in Florida State’s 2023 recruiting class. Meanwhile, Hunter entered the NCAA transfer portal after Sanders left Jackson State for Colorado.

Williams has an On3 NIL Valuation of $231K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
