One of Florida State’s newest players is Darrell Jackson, a defensive lineman who is transferring in from Miami. Director of Football Relations, Corey Fuller, who was Jackson’s high school coach, is a huge part of why he transferred to Tallahassee.

While speaking to the media, Jackson was asked about his relationship with Fuller and if it was good to be reunited with him now.

“It’s been smiles all around,” Darrell Jackson said. “Every time I see him I, man, I give him a big hug, smiling. Tell him I’m thankful for everything he’s done for me.”

Jackson and Fuller’s relationship, as Jackson explained, goes back to high school and is something that he’s incredibly grateful for.

“Thankful for everything he’s done for me and what he did for me in high school and how we got to this point. He stayed on me. So, every time I just give him a big hug and smile.”

Darrell Jackson says it feels amazing to be at FSU

Darrell Jackson has moved around a lot early in his career. It’s also odd to make the jump from one rival to another. Still, as Jackson explained, he’s happy to be in Tallahassee.

“It feels amazing. I’m happy to be here playing in my backyard. I just feel like it’s home, so I’m good,” Jackson said.

“It was [hectic], but I’m just happy I made the decision to come to Florida State. I’m in my backyard. I can help out with my parents, my little baby sister and just be happy. I’m happy I’m home so I can help them any chance I get.”

Jackson says getting eligible is a process

Darrell Jackson has already transferred multiple times in his college career. A three-star defensive lineman in the Class of 2021, Jackson started his career at Maryland before transferring to Miami. From there, he made the jump to rival Florida State.

As Jackson explained to the media, making sure he’s now eligible to play is going to be a long process.

“It’s a process,” Darrell Jackson said, avoiding giving an exact timeline for that process. “Everything going through, it’s a process.”
