Coaches are out on the recruiting trail in January, and the staff at Florida State is no exception. Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell visited Port Charlotte (Fla.) 2025 four-star defensive lineman Myron Charles on Friday.

Charles is the nation’s No. 130 overall prospect and No. 16 defensive lineman in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 20 recruit in Florida.

On3 ranks Charles significantly higher than the other three major recruiting services. He is the No. 67 overall prospect and No. 8 defensive lineman in the 2025 On300.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Charles visited Florida State in the spring and spoke with Warchant about his experience with the ‘Noles.

“I definitely expect this program to be huge in the upcoming years,” Charles said, adding that his main recruiter has been veteran defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins. “We’ve been talking for a while. Me and Odell, we have a nice relationship building up. Seems like a really honest man — tells it like he sees it.”

Charles fresh off of Miami junior day visit

Florida State is not the only Florida ACC school vying for Charles’ attention. He visited Coral Gables earlier this month.

“Really because of the environment,” Charles told CaneSport when asked what enticed him to get back down to Miami. “I went to a few of their games, and everything felt perfect and cool. The staff and coaches have so much experience and so much they can teach. It’s definitely a place you can get developed.”

Charles said that the Miami staff has made him feel like a priority.

“They let me know that I’m their No. 1 defensive tackle on their recruiting board,” Charles said. “And how much they want me and how much they need me.”
