Week 8 Picks | Penn State - Ohio State | Tennessee - Alabama | Utah - USC | Duke - Florida State

Florida State receiver Johnny Wilson left Saturday night’s contest against Duke with an injury after coming down with a catch in the third quarter. Wilson corralled an 11-yard catch to give the Seminoles a first down, but was brought down hard to the ground by a Blue Devils defender.

The receiver had to be helped off the field with assistance from the training staff and was taken into the injury tent for further evaluation. He was later seen being making his way to the locker room under his own power. It’s unclear at this point whether he will be able to return to the game.

Wilson had so far been one of the top receiving options for Florida State this season. Through five games, he recorded 20 catches for 357 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

At the time Wilson exited with the injury, he led the Seminoles with five catches for 58 yards. Florida State went on to score a touchdown on the same drive that Johnny Wilson got injured, retaking the lead 24-20. That would be the first of three fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Seminoles pulled away to take a 38-20 lead heading into the final minutes.

Wilson also missed one other game this season after suffering an injury in Week 6 against Virginia Tech. We’ll now await further update on his status after the game.

Florida State rides big fourth quarter to 38-20 win against Duke

Florida State kicked it into another gear during the fourth quarter to come out with a win against Duke on Saturday in Tallahassee. The Seminoles scored three touchdowns in the final 15 minutes while also holding the Blue Devils scoreless on their way to a 38-20 victory.

FSU began its run with a 96-yard touchdown drive that began in the third quarter as quarterback Jordan Travis capped it off with an eight-yard run for the score. That seemed to open the floodgates as the Seminoles went on to score touchdowns on their next two drives to pull away for good.

“It was hard-fought,” Travis told ESPN’s Holly Rowe following the win. “Thankful for the man upstairs. Thankful for the fans. They make it a lot easier for us. Our offensive line came up big at the end of the game. That’s what it comes down to. We know we’re gonna have to chip away. That’s a really good Duke football team. No matter what anybody says, that’s a great Duke football team. Defense plays really hard, but we stepped up when we needed to and we came out with the win.”

Travis finished the contest 27-of-36 passing for a pair of touchdowns and one interception. He also led the team with 62 yards rushing in addition to his pivotal score in the fourth quarter.
